The vents allow the wind to pass through the canopy rather than try to fight it, as is the way in the traditional umbrella design. As the vents are overlapping, while the wind can blow through, the Big Top canopy still keeps the rain out. The double dome technology is essentially two frames, one above the other on the main shaft of the umbrella. The black frames are steel for maximum strength, while the spokes (ribs) are fibreglass, which is light, strong and flexible. Rather than break when things get rough, they flex and then bend back into shape… a simple approach that has been looking after trees for thousands of years.
